About this tool

PNG is a lovely format until a form refuses it or an upload crawls. This converter redraws your PNG as a JPG right here in your browser — move the quality slider, watch the new size before you commit, and download a file that is usually a fraction of the original.

People reach for this most often for three jobs: shrinking a phone screenshot so it fits a form's size limit, turning design exports into something a website can load quickly, and making a PNG acceptable to an old system that only speaks JPG. In all three cases the original stays untouched on your device — you always keep your master copy.

Worth knowing: JPG cannot hold transparency. If your PNG has a see-through background, those areas come out white in the JPG. If you need the transparency kept, stay with PNG and use the compressor instead.

How to use the PNG to JPG Converter

Questions people ask

Will the JPG look worse than the PNG?

At quality 85 or above, most photos look identical to the eye while the file shrinks a lot. For screenshots with sharp text, keep quality at 90 or above.

What happens to transparent parts of my PNG?

JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white.

How much smaller will my file get?

It depends on the picture. A photo-like PNG often shrinks 60–80%. A flat logo with few colours may barely shrink at all, because PNG was already efficient for it.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion happens on your device, inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored or shared.
