About this tool

Ninety days from the visa stamp. The project ran from March to November — how long was that, actually? A deadline the notice period must fit inside. Pick the two dates and get the exact gap: in days, in weeks, and in months-plus-days, counted properly across month lengths and leap years.

It works backwards just as happily — put the later date first and the gap is the same, so “how long ago was that?” costs you no thought at all. Add or subtract days from a single date is the natural next feature; until then, this page plus a calendar covers most deadline work.

Questions people ask

Does it count both the first and last day?

The number shown is the difference between the dates: Monday to the following Monday is 7 days. If your purpose counts both endpoints (inclusive counting, common for leave and notice periods), add 1.

Can the end date be before the start date?

Yes. The gap is the same either way, so calculating “how long ago” needs no special mode.

How are months calculated in the result?

Calendar-honestly: whole calendar months first, then the leftover days. Jan 15 to Mar 20 is 2 months and 5 days — not some average-month fiction.

What about leap years?

Counted properly. A period spanning 29 February includes that day, which is why Feb-to-Feb across a leap year is 366 days, not 365.
